Our Story

Within a larger block of approximately 172m children at risk, India is estimated to have nearly 35m children in need of care and protection. Many of these either have no families, or broken family or parents addicted by drug and substance use. Its our responsibilities to ensure child rights and childhood experience.

Introduction

OliOli Foundation is a registered Non-Governmental Organization. It started in the year 2013 with eminent professional social workers. We work together with government bodies for the welfare of the children, women and transgender communities at grassroots level in Tamilnadu, India.

Objectives

1.To support and participate in local, national and international efforts to promote and protect the rights of the children

2.To mitigate the problems of drug abuse by create public awareness and rehabilitation of victims of alcoholism and drug abuse

3. To ensure equal education and support programs for school dropout children

4.To ensure availability and accessibility of minimum mental health care for all in the foreseeable future, particularly to the most vulnerable and underprivileged sections of population

5.To support and guidance for gender nonconforming children

6.Advocacy & Awareness and Research and Documentation on emerging social issues

 

Areas of Concern

We create strong advocacy and awareness on six important ACTs as follows

  1. Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, (2015)

  2. Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, (2006)

  3. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, (2012)

  4. Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985) and the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1988).

   5.The Mental Healthcare Act, (2017)

   6. Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, (2009)

DIRECTOR’S PROFILE

A. SIMON GEORGE, M.SW.,

Director

Simon George was born and brought up in Maviduthikottai village, Sivaganga District. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in social work from Loyola College in the period of 2002–2007 in Chennai, and he has over fifteen years of experience working with children in need of care and protection.

 

His passion and focus are mainly to ensure compulsory education for the gypsy and tribal children. He has been working for the development of children, women, and transgender communities in Tamil Nadu on a rights-based and arts-based approach.

 

He has worked closely with eminent social work organisations such as  NalandaWay Foundation, UNICEF, World Vision, State Child Protection Society, Department of Social Defence, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, etc., for the welfare of the children in need of care and protection.

 

He is moving ahead with the long-term dream of setting up an independent organisation for the welfare of the children after gathering a variety of field experiences and starting a professional social work organisation named "OliOli Foundation"- xspxyp gTz;Nl~d;. It practises and protects Tamilnadu policy for children and rights.

 

Let us unit together for the cause of education for underprivileged community children.
